    《星雲禪話》用心受持

      有一位信徒問大珠慧海禪師說:「聽說在所有的經典當中,我們持誦《般若心經》的功德最大、靈驗也最多,請問禪師,你的意見如何呢?」

    大珠慧海禪師聽了以後,深不以為然,就回答說:「不見得如你所說吧!」

    信徒不解,再問:「這麼說來,那些記載持誦《般若心經》功德最大、靈驗最多的事,就不足以採信囉?」

    大珠慧海禪師回答:「話不能這麼說,所謂感應乃在於一顆摯誠的心,而非虛妄的外表;經典是由文字、筆墨、紙張構成,文字紙張怎麼會有靈驗?假如說,我們將一卷經典供奉在桌上,無人受持、無人禮拜,要這一卷經典有靈驗、有功德,你想可能嗎?」

    信徒聽了以後,從此對經典的受持有了更深一層的認識。



    佛法到底靈驗不靈驗,不是在佛法,完全是在於自己的心。有一首詩就寫:「佛在靈山莫遠求,靈山就在汝心頭;人人有個靈山塔,好向靈山塔下修。」 (圖/李蕭錕)

    靈山在印度,又稱靈鷲山,就是當初佛陀住世的時候,經常說法講道的地方。而現在的靈鷲山是一片荒山,非常的淒涼蕭條,都是一些枯草樹木,但是儘管靈山那樣的蕭條,我六度到達靈鷲山,每次心情都非常激動,好像和佛陀又接近了很多。這不是靈鷲山靈驗不靈驗,而是我自己心裡在當下感受到和佛陀的這種關係。所以一切經典不是在於你誦念不誦念,經典靈不靈,是在誦念者本身心裡有了體會,有了慧解,這個經典自然就有功德,就有靈驗。

    禪者追求明心見性,什麼是靈驗?什麼是功德?只要你明心見性,一切便都跟著有了。
